Rev. Le explores the aftermath of war and the ethics of memory, through the lives and stories of South Vietnamese veterans, soldiers of the defunct Republic of South Vietnam (1955-1975). This project incorporates an understanding of historicity, memory, and image-making and his lecture will be accompanied by a series of photographs and prints. Rev. Le is interested in the mediums historically used to convey the developments of the war to the public, particularly film photography and printmaking. Engaging with photography’s potential to retrieve and heal memory and the poetics inherent in printmaking, he creates imagery to tell the story of his father and the South Vietnamese veterans.
