DESCRIPTION:Theology and the Limits of Liberal Democracy
             \n\nAttend in person - Register here\n\nIn this talk\, Boston C
ollege Theology Department Professor Nelly Wamaitha traces how colonialism
placed limits on what equality and inclusion would mean for Kenya through t
he enactment and enforcement of the Independence Constitution. Similarly\,
in the United States the Constitution has historically placed limits on how
much equality and inclusion can be aimed for politically. Drawing on Afric
an theologies and other liberation theologies\, Professor Wamaitha asks how
theology and the church can foster more expansive visions of democracy and
be for and with the disenfranchised.
