DESCRIPTION:With COVID-19\, science has been thrust into the forefront of t
he international conversation. No matter the scientific issue\, doubters ca
n be found\, from politicians and business people\, to experts asking serio
us questions\, to what many depict as conspiracy theorists. While some have
sought to assuage all doubt on the basis of ‘evidence-based’ science\, oth
ers have stirred the pot with the help of influential leaders. Doubt— thoug
h often misunderstood—has a real place in science and in ethics. Theologian
Avery Dulles\, SJ\, says that doubt can be a Christian virtue\, helping us
to avoid the pitfalls of superstition and fanaticism. In this respect\, it
could be argued that ‘Faith’ and ‘Science’ have something in common. In th
is webinar\, an expert panel will explore the place of doubt in science in
order to further the appreciation of what it means to say that ‘we are foll
 owing the science’.\n\nFeaturing: \n\nFabián Jaksic\, Pontificia Universida
