Led by founder and director, Rory McCleery, The Marian Consort performs music from the twelfth century to the present day, with a focus on bringing to light and championing marginalised and lesser-known composers such as Vicente Lusitano, Raffaella Aleotti, and Jean Maillard. Creating new music is of vital importance to TMC; the ensemble has premiered over 30 works to date, and in recent years has commissioned Dani Howard, Cheryl Frances-Hoad, Laurence Osborn and Electra Perivolaris.
Praise for Vicente Lusitano: Motets, a Gramophone ‘Editor’s Choice’ and Winner of the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik (German Record Critics) 2023.
“The Marian Consort’s superb performances feel as though they have been grown into and lived in. They seem to have reached a new level, and the outstanding quality of their sound is matched by the recording.” Gramophone
