DESCRIPTION:In June this year Ailbhe and David publish their hugely signifi
cant Cambridge History of Irish women’s poetry. A work that captures the lo
ng history of women’s poetry writing in Ireland\, it is a ground-breaking a
nd comprehensive account of Irish women's poetry from earliest times to the
present day. It reads Irish women's poetry through many prisms – mythology
 \, gender\, history\, the nation – and most importantly\, close readings of
the poetry itself. The work is underpinned not only by their careers as li
terary scholars\, but also as they are both published and award-winning poe
ts in their own right. Ailbhe’s most recent collection of poetry is Insiste
nce\, published in June 2018 with Bloodaxe Books\, which won Wales Book of
the Year and the Piggott Prize for Poetry in association with Listowel Writ
ers' Week. David’s most recent poetry collection was The President of Plane
t Earth (Carcanet/Wake Forest UP\, 2017).\n\nTo register go to Eventbrite:
