Join The Lab, Start@Shea’s six-week open incubator designed to help students turn ideas into ventures through hands-on workshops and founder-led sessions. Each session runs from 5–6:30 PM, with one optional office hours week.

Oct 29 – Kickoff & Problem Identification (Dr. Julia Whiteavitch): Explore how to identify real-world problems and craft clear problem statements using the “5 Whys” method.

Nov 4 – Competitive Landscape & Differentiation: Learn how to analyze competitors and define your unique value proposition through a 2x2 market positioning exercise.

Nov 11 – Prototyping & MVP Testing (Hatchery + Ryan Fassnacht): Build and test low-fidelity prototypes to visualize your idea and gather peer feedback.

Nov 18 – Storytelling & Pitching (Bo Brainerd): Practice delivering concise, impactful pitches that communicate your problem, solution, and value.

Nov 25 – Office Hours: Meet one-on-one with facilitators to refine your startup progress and prepare for Start@Shea’s Accelerator.

Dec 2 – Accelerator Application Workshop + Marketing/Logo Design (Maggie Yan & Accelerator Alumni): Get guidance on branding and completing your Accelerator application.
(Attendance at the first five sessions qualifies students for “fast-track” consideration into Start@Shea’s Accelerator Program.)
