About this Event
Boston College’s Research Program on Children and Adversity (RPCA), FXB Rwanda, and the University of Rwanda’s Centre for Mental Health have been implementing Sugira Muryango, an evidence-based home-visiting program which utilizes active coaching to increase responsive parenting to promote early childhood development and prevent violence. Since 2011, the program has gone through different iterations and now, its expansion phase utilizing the Friends of Family Workforce (Inshuti z’Umuryango) has reached 10,000 families across three districts in Rwanda. The program included an embedded study aimed at testing components of a clinical effectiveness trial evaluating the impact of the program on children’s overall development with implementation science research methodology. For the study, data were collected at three time points, pre-intervention, immediate post intervention, and 12 months post intervention.
