One of the most striking and original achievements in American poetry, Spoon River Anthology, by Edgar Lee Masters, probed the social background of small-town living.

A collection of short free-form poems spoken from a cemetery in the small fictional town of Spoon River, Illinois. The collection includes over 200 characters each providing their own accounts of life, love, loss, sex, moral decay, and hypocrisy.
