Social Impact Voices: Protecting our Neighbors with Brian Garvey, Massachusetts Peace Action
About this Event
Protecting our Neighbors: State and Local Resistance to Attacks on Immigrants
Across the nation, new federal immigration policies are shaking communities and testing the limits of constitutional protections. Even here in Massachusetts, immigrant families are feeling the impact. There is fear and uncertainty in our neighborhoods, classrooms, and workplaces.
However, communities across the Commonwealth are taking action. From local advocacy to statewide initiatives, individuals and organizations stand up for justice, support immigrant neighbors, and find creative ways to protect our shared values of inclusion, fairness, and freedom.
Brian Garvey is executive director of Massachusetts Peace Action (MAPA) and MAPA Education Fund (MAPAEF). He organizes with the Raytheon Antiwar Campaign and supports MAPA’s Climate and Nuclear Disarmament United and Peace Economy campaigns, and its working groups on the Middle East, Latin America/ Caribbean, and Peace and Climate.
