About this Event
Boston College, 269-283 Beacon Street, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467, USA
Gallery 203 in Carney Hall presents an exhibtiion by artists Kaitong Hu '21 and Van Xu '21 through the month of October 2020.
The character 生 (Sheng) has multiple nuanced, but correlated meanings under the contemporary context in Chinese linguistics - 生命 (Sheng Ming, or lives) is the existence of living beings; it’s the span of time between birth and death. 生活 (Sheng Huo, or life) is the ways of living; it’s the activities, events and behavioral patterns that living beings possess or perform.
Sheng: 生 is the combination of two artists’ visions of the “post-COVID era”. It is the exploration into both the new normal that was born during our fight for lives and the changes to the ways of living that we, the collection of human beings, have already taken in, or will eventually have to get accustomed to.
Sheng: 生 is a straightforward, candid and almost deadpan portrait of where we are and what has happened at this specific point in human history. It’s a show about human lives and human life under a pandemic.
