 tal Sciences Department for a seminar in the Interdisciplinary Research Sem
 inar Series on Climate Change. \n\nThis session will feature Pep Canadell f
 rom the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation who wi
 ll present Decoding Our Carbon and Climate Futures\, and the Imperative for
  Net-Zero Emissions. \n\nDr. Pep Canadell is a Chief Research Scientist in 
 Australia’s CSIRO Environment and Executive Director of the Global Carbon P
 roject (GCP)\, a project of Future Earth and a research partner of the Worl
 d Climate Research Programme. Pep focuses on collaborative and highly integ
 rative research to develop national\, continental\, and global budgets and 
 trend analyses of the main greenhouse gases\, including carbon dioxide\, me
 thane\, and nitrous oxide. He uses a robust understanding of regional and g
 lobal biogeochemical cycles to inform the formulation of sub-national\, nat
 ional and international policy and actions to address climate change. Pep h
 as contributed to the United Nations - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate C
 hange (IPCC) for the last 18 years and multiple assessments of the World Me
 teorological Organization. Pep has co-authored over 220 peer-reviewed resea
 rch papers\, with about a quarter in the journals of Nature and Science. He
  is a highly cited researcher (Web of Science-Clarivate Analytics) and his 
 published work has attracted over 100k citations in the scientific literatu
 re. Pep is also a keen science communicator with engagement in national and
  international traditional media\, social media\, and evidence-based journa
 lism at The Conversation with over 1.6 million reads. He is an elected fell
 ow of the American Geophysical Union\, and Reuters named him the 8th most i
 nfluential climate scientist in the world in 2021. Pep has received several
  world's prestigious awards including the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
