Please join the Schiller Institute and the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department for a seminar in the Interdisciplinary Research Seminar Series on Climate Change.

This session will feature Pep Canadell from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation who will present Decoding Our Carbon and Climate Futures, and the Imperative for Net-Zero Emissions.

Dr. Pep Canadell is a Chief Research Scientist in Australia’s CSIRO Environment and Executive Director of the Global Carbon Project (GCP), a project of Future Earth and a research partner of the World Climate Research Programme. Pep focuses on collaborative and highly integrative research to develop national, continental, and global budgets and trend analyses of the main greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. He uses a robust understanding of regional and global biogeochemical cycles to inform the formulation of sub-national, national and international policy and actions to address climate change. Pep has contributed to the United Nations - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for the last 18 years and multiple assessments of the World Meteorological Organization. Pep has co-authored over 220 peer-reviewed research papers, with about a quarter in the journals of Nature and Science.
