Race, Sports, And Politics: Confronting Injustice In The History Of Boston
Friday, April 11, 2025 1pm to 6pm
About this Event
Boston College, 59-107 College Road, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467, USA
Boston’s troubled racial history has often revealed itself in the public and private arenas: from social justice concerns within local government in towns and cities, to education in high schools and universities, to sports on and off the playing fields. This conference addresses the pivotal actions by Boston’s Black athletes throughout many decades, to challenge racism, strengthen racial identity, and fortify community. Participants will offer historical and personal narratives of actions that challenge social injustice, and honor and commemorate the city’s commitment to equality.
