Entanglement-Based Quantum Technologies
The 20th century has witnessed the rise of quantum mechanics and its spurred scientific and technological revolution. The mankind is now on the verge of the second quantum evolution sparked by quantum information science (QIS). Entanglement lies at the heart of QIS, giving rise to a plethora of quantum-enabled or enhanced capabilities. In this talk, I will discuss our recent experimental advances in near-term quantum machine learning platforms for data classification [1], entangled sensor networks for precise radiofrequency and optomechanical sensing [2], and entanglement-assisted communication systems surpassing the ultimate classical communication capacity [3]. Before closing, I will present the endeavors toward a future quantum internet by introducing University of Arizona’s Interdisciplinary Quantum Information Research and Engineering (INQUIRE) infrastructure and the NSF Engineering Research Center for Quantum Networks (CQN) testbed.
