Designing twisted cages: molecular hosts with Möbius topology
Molecular structures having Möbius topology are attractive targets for synthesis, given their inherent chirality. The interplay between the geometrical and topological constraints can result in highly strained structures rendering them thermodynamically inaccessible. Strategies for designing Möbius molecular containers that do not suffer from high strain will be discussed.
