Recent Evolution of Climate Science: From Greenhouse Gases and Temperature to Aerosol Particles and Precipitation

On the heels of the Intergovermental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report and Suki Manabe’s Nobel Prize in Physics in 2021, I will present a brief overview of how climate science has evolved since the publication of the Charney Report in 1979, and use a few examples from my recent work to show how one can use numerical models, observations and theories to advance the fundamental understanding of Earth’s climate system.
