About this Event
Cyclotron resonance in graphene: Dirac fermions, broken symmetries, cavity QED, and more
Cyclotron resonance probes transitions between quantized levels of an electronic system in a strong magnetic field. Historically important for experimentally confirming the effective mass and quasiparticle pictures that are so fundamental to condensed matter, this spectroscopic measurement technique is re-emerging as a probe of many-particle interactions in modern quantum materials, most particularly graphene. We will give an overview of this field, our own work in mono- and bilayer graphene, and highlight exciting future applications of this venerable and powerful approach.
