The seminar explores how social and economic change made illegal money-lending more viable for many of Dublin's working poor. The seminar has its origins in a research project undertaken by three historians; Carole Holohan of Trinity College Dublin, Sean O'Connell of Queen's University Belfast and Rob Savage of Boston College. The findings of their project were published in a recent edition of the journal Irish Historical Studies.
