Compassion is the combination of empathic, nonjudgmental awareness of another's feelings, perspective, and needs, together with the inclination to connect and provide assistance.  Compassion is finite.  We have limited stores of it and must recharge as needed.  This requires self-compassion: nonjudgmental awareness and acceptance of first, yourself; second, your feelings, values and needs; and third, your intentions and responsibilities.  In this session, we'll introduce brief practices that will increase your awareness and help you explore how compassion influences your relationship with self and others.

Finally, we'll review how the three components of MSC leadership (mindfulness, selflessness, and compassion) are mutually enhancing.  They are not simply concepts; they are experiential and can be developed through awareness and practice.  Mindfulness makes us more selfless; selflessness makes us more compassionate; compassion, in turn, makes us more mindful and more selfless.
