https://bc.campuslabs.com/engage/event/7595084The Rerooted Archive is the paramount documentation project about the Armenian community of Syria. It documents over 200 testimonies in hopes of sharing the rich history of the twice-displaced Syrian-Armenian community. Since 2017, the Rerooted team has interviewed Syrian-Armenians resettled in more than 10 countries.
The Archive preserves these personal, on-the-ground perspectives of 100 years of Syrian-Armenian history from its roots of survival, to its vibrancy in Syria, to the precipice of dispersion. By saving these stories of the past, the archive aims to secure their place in future histories and to have a positive impact on the present, through advocating for the community’s needs in Syria, Armenia, and beyond. To that end, the archive’s goals are three-fold: Preservation, Education, and Justice.
Ani and Anoush, the founders of the archive, will be at BC to discuss the project some more, the importance of this documentation, and how students like us can get involved or start something similar!
