About this Event
With Daniela Urosa, Professor of Law, BC Law School
The Inter-American System for the protection of human rights is the regional system responsible for monitoring, promoting, and protecting human rights in the Americas' countries that are members of the Organization of American States (OAS). Currently, its judicial institution, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, is at the vanguard and one of the strongest Regional Courts of Human Rights. However, it has many challenges to achieve integral and effective human rights protection due to the sociopolitical complexities of Latin America. Urosa will present the main trends of the Inter-American Court jurisprudence and current challenges of protecting human rights by the Inter-American System in her presentation.
