Living Out the Jesuit, Catholic Mission: Diverse Perspectives Series: St. Ignatius on the Magis, True Humility and a Holy Work-Life Balance
Wednesday, March 20, 2024 12pm to 1pm
About this Event
What does it mean to live through "the Greater Glory of God?" St. Ignatius dedicated both his life and the Jesuit order to this simple idea with profound implications. Far from a rhetorical battle-cry of vague meaning, it was a specific criterion that one should use when making decisions in the service of God. This criterion colored Ignatius' understanding of everything from prayer and discernment, to magnanimity, indifference, and what it means to be spiritually free.
"The Greater Glory of God" also shaped Ignatius' ideas about a healthy work-life balance for Jesuits, their colleagues, and their students, a balance that cannot be attained without a humble embrace of one's personal gifts and limitations as a creature of God.
Join the Office for Institutional Diversity on Wednesday, March 20, 12:00 - 1:00 pm, at McElroy 237 Conference Room, to hear from Barton Geger S.J., Assistant Professor of the Practice, School of Theology and Ministry, as he unpacks both Ignatius' and his own understanding of this concept and practice using historical and modern applications.
