Irish Materialisms: The Nonhuman and the Making of Colonial Irelanda new monograph by Colleen Taylor (Assistant Prof. of English and Irish Studies, BC), details the resistance and creativity of Irish matter, from coins to mud cabins and pigs. Irish Materialisms takes part in an emerging research field that prioritizes the environmental stories of Irish culture and history. But where is Irish environmental studies going next? What new questions must the field raise and answer? An expert panel featuring Malcolm Sen (UMass Amherst, editor, A History of Irish Literature and the Environment), Finola O'Kane (UCD, author, Landscape Design and Revolution in Eighteenth Century Ireland and the United States), and Christine Cusick (Seton Hill, author, Out of the Earth: Ecocritical Readings of Irish Texts) will explore these questions and lead a conversation on Irish Studies' bright environmental future.

The panel will be followed by the official book launch of Irish Materialisms and a reception celebrating the beginning of the academic year for Irish Studies.

Copies of Irish Materialisms will be available for purchase.
