Inundation District Film - Screening and Discussion
Thursday, April 18, 2024 7pm to 9pm
About this Event
Higgins Hall, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467
Join us for a special screening of INUNDATION
DISTRICT, and post-film Discussion with Director, Filmmaker and Boston Globe Reporter, David Abel.
INUNDATION DISTRICT raises awareness about an era of rising seas and strengthening storms, and questions Boston's decision to spend more than 20 billion dollars building a new coastal district. Unlike other places imperiled by climate change, this neighborhood of glass towers housing some of the world’s largest companies was built well after scientists began warning of the threats, including many at its renowned universities. The city, which already has more high-tide flooding than nearly any other in the United States, called its new quarter the Innovation District. However, with seas rising inexorably, and at an accelerating rate, others are calling the neighborhood by a different name: Inundation District.
Pizza will be served at 6:30 pm. RSVP here to save yourself a slice!
