 a recognition of AJ's life work combating racism as a scholar\, leader in 
 professional psychology\, civil rights activist\, community organizer\, an
 d esteemed elder.\n\nFrom his involvement in the famous 1960 Richmond 34 s
 tudent sit-in\, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech at Virgini
 a Union University\, to his appointment at Boston College\, where he creat
 ed the Roundtable Networking Community Based Programs\, AJ has displayed a
 n unwavering commitment to the fight against racial oppression\, and in do
 ing so has inspired generations of younger scholars\, activists\, and comm
 unity leaders to do likewise.\n\nThis annual event will serve as a platfor
 m for esteemed scholars and/or community leaders to provide a lecture focu
 sing on unifying approaches to the ongoing disruption and dismantling of r
 acism within our society. Please join us in celebration of Dr. Franklin’
 s contributions over a lifetime of service and activism.
