Inaugural Anderson "AJ" Franklin Unity Against Racism Lecture

Tuesday, April 18, 2023 7pm to 8:30pm

140 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467

The ISRC is proud to honor Dr. Anderson J. Franklin through instituting the annual Anderson "AJ" Franklin Unity Against Racism Lecture, a recognition of AJ's life work combating racism as a scholar, leader in professional psychology, civil rights activist, community organizer, and esteemed elder.

From his involvement in the famous 1960 Richmond 34 student sit-in, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech at Virginia Union University, to his appointment at Boston College, where he created the Roundtable Networking Community Based Programs, AJ has displayed an unwavering commitment to the fight against racial oppression, and in doing so has inspired generations of younger scholars, activists, and community leaders to do likewise.

This annual event will serve as a platform for esteemed scholars and/or community leaders to provide a lecture focusing on unifying approaches to the ongoing disruption and dismantling of racism within our society. Please join us in celebration of Dr. Franklin’s contributions over a lifetime of service and activism.
