The Center for Human Rights and International Justice will be hosting an immigration workshop aimed at BC undergrads with service placements and/or immersion trip experience, but is open to all students with an interest in immigration issues in the US. The workshop will consist of a mix of presentations and interactive activities.
To be covered:
- The basics of the US immigration system
- How and why people are denied entry to the the US and deported.
- Basic tenets of Catholic Social Teaching on migration
- Contributions and facts about immigrants in greater Boston and the US
- Updates on Center research in the greater Boston area done with immigrant population
Immigration attorney Jessica Chicco, Center researcher Rogelia Cruz Estrada and BC Professor of Theology Kristin Heyer will present.
