DESCRIPTION:The Hamilton Symposium will feature a panel discussion highligh
 ting the current Narratives and Discoveries surrounding Rare Genetic disea
 ses. Conversations will address the barriers and challenges for those with
  rare genetic disease and the impact on families. The Department of Biolog
 y will sponsor this event on May 3rd\, 2024.\n\nPanelists will offer persp
 ectives on the broad range of factors that influence societal behavior\, e
 ducation\, therapeutic approaches and advancement\, humanities and researc
 h and development which affect an estimated 300 million people with rare d
 isorders. This year's panelists are Kenna Sullivan of the BC School of Soc
 ial Work\, Jessica Pugliesi of the Lynch School of Education & Human Devel
 opment\, and Ravi Balasubramanian\, Physician-Scientist at Massachusetts G
 eneral Hospital. \n\nNamed in honor of Annie Hamilton and the CUREFA Found
 ation\, the Symposium’s purpose is to promote research\, advocacy\, and 
 treatment of people living with rare disorders. The event will precede the
  2024 Student Research Day in Higgins Hall\, which will begin at 2pm.
