Housing will be examined through a study of the history of affordable housing, an exploration of the transformation of Columbia Point Public Housing Development to Harbor Point, and an applied simulation. This course is open to first-year students only.

About Kim Driscoll:

Kim Driscoll is the 73rd Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, sworn in on January 5, 2023, alongside Governor Maura Healey. Together, they are the first all-women executive team to lead Massachusetts.

As Lieutenant Governor, Driscoll serves as a liaison for municipalities across the state and leads efforts on housing, public education, and economic development. She chairs the Governor's Council, the Council to Address Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, and the Seaport Economic Council, while co-chairing the STEM Advisory Council.

Previously, Driscoll served as Salem's first woman Mayor from 2005-2023, turning deficits into surpluses while revitalizing downtown, improving K-12 schools, and expanding early education opportunities. She also served as Beverly's Community Development Director and Chelsea's Chief Legal Counsel and Deputy City Manager.

A Salem State University graduate with a law degree from Massachusetts School of Law, Driscoll is focused on creating communities that work for all Massachusetts residents.

This Guest Lecture is open to all students.
