Alex de Waal is the Executive Director of the World Peace Foundation and Research Professor at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He is renowned for his work on humanitarian crises and responses, conflict and peace-building, human rights, HIV/AIDS, and governance in Africa. He is the author of Mass Starvation: The History and Future of Famine (2017).
