Tracing Humanity in Time and Eternity

Gerhard Bowering is Professor of Islamic Studies at Yale University and Eidtor-in-Chief of The Princeton Encyclopedia of Islamic Thought (2013). In addition to his monograph The Vision of Existence in Classical Islam (1980), he has edited several source critical studies of Qu'ranic commentary and Sufism. 

The recipient of fellowships from the Mellon and Guggenheim Foundations, as well as the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, Professor Boweing has been a member of the American Philosophical Society since 1994.
