Please note: This workshop contains significant overlap with the ACT Course Design workshop, so we recommend that you not attend if you have already received credit for the other workshop.

This workshop expands on the backward design process introduced in this orientation module, with a focus on the first step of the process: determining what you want students to learn. By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• describe, and distinguish between, learning goals and learning outcomes
• identify situational factors that can impact course design and teaching
• describe the work the syllabus can do in a course

Enrollment is limited; please register as soon as possible, but no later than February 2, 2026.

This is one of 5 required workshops for the Foundations of Teaching (FT) Program. Those who miss more than ten minutes of a session will not receive FT Program credit for that workshop.
