In anticipation of our Excellence in Teaching Day keynote by Joshua Eyler, Director of Faculty Development, University of Mississippi, we’ll be holding discussions of his work on Wednesday, April 26 and Thursday, April 27th from 12:00 - 1:00. Feel free to attend either session on Zoom or in person. Lunch will be provided for those attending in person and all members of the BC community are welcome to join.

We’ll focus our conversation primarily on “Failure,” the fifth chapter of Eyler’s book How Humans Learn, where he considers the complicated relationship between grades and learning and anticipates some of the thinking he will be sharing in our keynote. For anyone interested in more recent pieces, his Inside Higher Ed article and Teaching in Higher Ed podcast episode briefly explore related questions, connecting grades to student mental health.
