Edson Severnini from Carnegie Mellon University (Economics and Public Policy) will be speaking on Tuesday, April 16. His talk is titled Climate Policy and the Energy Transition: Evidence-based Approaches from the Social Sciences.
Designing effective climate policy requires (i) quantifying climate impacts, (ii) understanding channels of climate adaptation; and (iii) identifying fruitful mitigation strategies such as the energy transition. This public lecture will focus on how behavioral responses may alter the biological, chemical, and physical effects of climate change; how market and policy incentives trigger adaptive behavior that may affect the longer-term impacts of climatic change; and how key economic trade-offs may shape the energy transition.
The talk with be 12-1 PM with a lunch reception to immediately follow. All of the seminars are designed to be accessible for interested people from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds.
