Exhibitions at the Lesley University College of Art and Design.
Mroczek maintains a solo interdisciplinary studio practice focusing
on themes of power structures and dynamics, sex, and sexuality.
Additionally, his collaboration with artist Juan Jose Barboza-Gubo
(Barboza-Gubo & Mroczek) focuses on themes of masculinity,
sexuality, gender, gender-identity, and the effects of patriarchy as
a social system. Mroczek will be discussing his collaborative
photographic works "Padre Patria (Fatherland)" and " Virgenes
de la Puerta '' that focuses on the violent social and political life of
LGBTQI+ people of Peru.
This talk will focus on his research-based approach, which
uses both the landscape and metaphoric, religious iconography to
shed light on marginalized queer communities, particularly the
transgender women of Lima, Peru. Mroczek will also discuss his
sculptural work and how he creates a visual language using sexuality
and politics into his own practice while residing in the United States.
