In our classrooms, difficult dialogues can be painful and frustrating but they also carry the potential to be moments for growth and transformative learning. In this workshop we will imagine together what these conversations can be like, and explore concrete strategies to foster the kinds of exchanges we want in our classrooms. Faculty and students will have opportunities to strategize and share in small peer groups, and then hear from each other in a larger forum. Participants will leave inspired and prepared with some new ideas to help them cultivate these courageous conversations.

Presenters include:

  • Professor Susan Tohn, School of Social Work
  • Sarah Castricum, Center for Teaching Excellence

Sponsored by the Center for Teaching Excellence and the School of Social Work.
