Did you know that everyone owns copyright? Under U.S. law, individual creators, as well as companies and organizations like Boston College, hold exclusive rights to their work. As a copyright owner, you may have questions about the differences between copyright and licenses, or why platforms like Instagram can use your photos despite your copyright. Are you confused about e-book lending restrictions at the library? How does one identify a copyright holder? Over which content does Boston College exert copyright?
This is your opportunity to ask your questions and gain expert insights into these complex issues. Elliot, who earned his Juris Doctor (JD) in 2004, has been leading Scholarly Communications at Boston College University Libraries since 2021. In this discussion, he’ll delve into key topics such as copyright, public domain, open access, and fair use.
Join us to deepen your understanding of intellectual property and discover the valuable resources made available to the Boston College community through the University Libraries.
