DESCRIPTION:The Boston College Political Science Department invites you to 
 the Jack Miller Center Constitutional Day Lecture by Professor Peter McNam
 ara.  Prof. McNamara will give a lecture on “Hamilton\, Jefferson\, and 
 the Constitution\,” on Monday\, September 20\, 2021\, at 4:30 p.m.\, in 
 Devlin Hall 008 Auditorium\, Boston College\, Chestnut Hill\, MA.   This l
 ecture is supported by the Jack Miller Center Constitutional Day Initiativ
 e.\n\nProfessor Peter McNamara is a Professor of Practice\, School of Civi
 c and Economic Thought and Leadership\, Arizona State University.  Peter M
 cNamara’s research and teaching focuses on American political thought\, 
 Early Modern political thought\, and political economy. He is the author o
 f "Political Economy and Statesmanship: Smith\, Hamilton and the Foundatio
 n of the Commercial Republic" and the editor of "The Noblest Minds: Fame\,
  Honor and the American Founding\," and (with Louis Hunt)\, "Liberalism\, 
 Conservatism and Hayek's Idea of Spontaneous Order." He has written on a w
 ide variety of other topics including Hayek’s moral theory\, political o
 pportunism\, Jefferson’s federalism\, and the intellectual origins of bu
 siness schools. He has taught at Utah State University\, Boston College\, 
 and Clemson University\, where he was a Hayek Visiting Scholar. He has als
 o worked as a research officer for the Australian Treasury. He has a Bache
 lor of Economics (with First Class Honors) from the University of Queensla
 nd in Brisbane\, Australia\, and a doctorate in political science from Bos
 ton College.\n\nHis areas of expertise include American political thought\
 , American founding\, Alexander Hamilton\, political economy\, and Early M
 odern political thought.
