DESCRIPTION:Comhfhios 2026 - Violence: Legacies of Conflict in Ireland \n\n
The Irish Studies Graduate Students of Boston College\, in conjunction wit
h the Irish Studies Program\, are pleased to host the 9th annual Comhfhios
Boston College conference. Comhfhios (pronounced 'co-is')\, meaning "know
ledge together" or "open to all knowledge\," invites emerging scholars acr
oss all fields of Irish Studies to gather in Boston.\n\nThis year's theme
is "Violence: Legacies of Conflict in Ireland\," and the keynote speaker w
ill be Jay Roszman\, lecturer in History at University College Cork. Viole
nce and its representations are a key arena of inquiry in Irish Studies\,
and we will address this topic in a variety of ways. While physical forces
loom large in popular imaginations of Ireland\, violence encompasses more
than the physical. This conference will explore violence in its various f
 orms\, both visible and invisible.
