The Inter-American Court of Human Rights is a progressive regional Court that has significantly impacted human rights protection in the Hemisphere in the last decades. However, having the lowest budget of all international tribunals, it deals with situations of complex structural discrimination such as the highest levels of inequality in the world, rising waves of authoritarianism in the region, and the disproportionate impact of climate change in vulnerable populations. These are some of the current challenges that the Inter-American Court must address to provide comprehensive reparation to victims of human rights violations in the 21st century.
