Experience Renaissance Music Up Close: Witness a Guidonian Hand Signals Demonstration
Immerse yourself in the intricacies of Renaissance music through a hands-on and interactive experience with the renowned ensemble Cappella Pratensis. This workshop will explore the Josquin Inviolata, demonstrating the Guidonian hand and simple improvisation techniques. Students will have the unique opportunity to sing alongside the Cappella Pratensis ensemble, experiencing the beauty of polyphonic music firsthand.
The ensemble also performs pieces from the Boston College Burns Library rare book collection, including the Kyrie from the Morales Missa Aspice and the Palestrina Ave Maria. This masterclass will provide a valuable opportunity for participants to appreciate the historical context and significance of these works, enriching their understanding of Renaissance music.
