Four Decades after Title IX: Sport, Kids, Gender and Families      Michael Messner, Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is the President of the Pacific Sociological Association and is a Past President of the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport. In 2012 he received the Jessie Bernard Award from the American Sociological Association, and in 2011 received the Abby J. Leibman Pursuit of Justice Award, California Women’s Law Center. He has been recognized as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential Sports Educators” by the Institute for International Sports. In 2010 he was the Chair of the Sex and Gender Section of the American Sociological Association
