The Power of Habit: Make it Work For You

Science tells us that 40% of our daily actions are habitual and virtually unconscious. The good news is because habits use little brain power, the brain is available for higher level tasks requiring concentration. The bad news is that we are unaware of the triggers and rewards that govern every habit. Therefore our habits are hard to change. And willpower alone is not enough.
In this hands-on, experiential workshop, you will learn how behaviors become habits, how to create new habits, and how to replace old ones. You cannot erase old habits, but you can build competing habits that "hijack" the triggers and rewards that govern old habits.
When you come to this workshop, have in mind two reasonably modest habits that you would like to work on -- that is to acquire, change or let go.
You will learn 4 different styles of responding to the need or desire to change habits; gain clarity about the kind of support and self-talk that will work for you; and learn 3 useful tips for building on your strengths and weaknesses. You will leave with an understanding of your current habit pattern; a "Plan A" for changing a habit; and a "Plan B" for dealing with contingencies and setbacks.
