Religious Hybridity and Christian Identity
Religious Hybridity and Christian Identity
Thursday, October 3, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Corcoran Commons, Heights Room, Chestnut Hill Campus
Catherine Cornille, Newton College Alumnae Chair of Western Culture and professor of comparative theology, Boston College Department of Theology
This lecture will focus on the growing phenomenon of religious or spiritual fluidity and its implications for Christian thought and practice. While the lack of full and single-minded belonging to the Church challenges the sense of community as well as the continuity of the tradition, it also represents an opportunity for critical self-reflection: what are religious hybrids looking for beyond Christianity? How might the Church respond?
