Jon Danilowicz, “Careers in the U.S. State Department”
Jon Danilowicz is the appointed U.S Department of State’s Diplomat in Residence (DIR) for the New England area. He has spent 26 years working as a foreign service officer and is now based at Tufts University. A graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, Danilowicz most recently served as Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Peshawar, Pakistan, from 2014 to 2015. From 2012 to 2014, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Earlier in his career, Danilowicz served multiple tours in Pakistan and Bangladesh as well as in Washington, D.C., in the Bureau of South Asian Affairs. His other foreign postings include service at the U.S. embassies in Panama, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. He also served in the State Department Operations Center. His foreign languages include Bengali, Portuguese, and Spanish.
