"Catholic Social Thought in the era of Pope Francis: Roots in the work of Saint Alberto Hurtado"
The thought of Saint Alberto Hurtado, Jesuit priest and lawyer canonized in 2005, has been quite influential in Latin America, is regrettably little known in the English-speaking world. The book "Social Morality" a posthumous book by Saint Alberto Hurtado, S.J., translated and edited by Professor Scott FitzGibbon and Fernanda Soza, will be presented in the event. This will the first time a work written by Hurtado is published in the U.S. This edition includes introductory comments and more than 600 footnotes.
This conference is part of a project that aims to make Saint Alberto Hurtado's ideas accessible to English speakers. More than 20 people from 6 different countries will deliver papers about Hurtado's work and Catholic Social Thought.
